ST: CAIRNPAPPLE HILL TUMULUS Date: 20.04.2022 Wednesday Location: From Glasgow to Bathgate—a town in West Lothian, Scotland—5 miles (8 km) west of Livingston. Time: 4:45 Weather Conditions: Sunny. War. Cloudy. Cold. Hazy. Foggy. Smooky. Misty. . Spooky. Context: Observing the sky and the tumulus. Walking. Whisting. whispering. with winds. birds. Sheeps. the 1st field research. + Cairnpapple Tumlus. + + + + + + + i woke up. for my phd research. + + feeling anxious. + + worried facing potential : + + tech problems. + Packed my bag earlier on. + + . . then. + checking up everything hid the road. + + over and over. making sure * all the batteries are full. + have sometime to do. + + : but. + * making some hibiscus tea. * excited for the trip. . + boiled with some cinnamon stick. + lemon. clove and anise. + the crucial prep. + + yet Cairnpapple known by its rituals. : tea is always part of my ritual. * + : + : + katie is with me. + + + she is driving. and also it is always nice * up to the cairnpapple hill. * to have a friend to talk with. + + . ++ + i was happy with her offer . i walked 35 minutes * + . . . ++ because i don't have a car and passed by the Kelvingrove Park . .+ * + and it was going to take extra time to Katie's place + . ++. figuring out how to get there + . + . probably by multiple public and arrived there five minutes early. ++ . +transportations. i texted her earlier . ++ + . * and "said " "on my way!". . +++++ . i waited 15 min downstairs + . - - - - . *+ because her door bell was broken. . . ---*-- : . it wasn't pleasant but that's okay. the weather was very nice, : - C - . + * shining sunny. + i trusted the sun. * . the travel took 45 minutes but i was wrong. .: . . and by the time we arrived there . : . + somehow winter back! it was as dark as+underneath of the tumulus. . * as cold as the moon. . + . . we were actually in the space tumulus! * + . . i had my big patagonia short on . . + because i trusted the sun (i shouldn't have). and had no backup warm cloths + ++ ++ 10 . . (annoying tourist vibe). +++ ++101010 . . * + Katie asked me "are you ok?" . + 1010+1010 . "it is really cold" and i said "yeah, sure, i'm fine." there were a high up stairs to the hill. + 1010+ + when you look up the stairs 8 ++ + 10 + * : you only see the sky at the end. 888 + + + sema means the sky in Turkish. nothing else. 88888 +. . + + we walked through the path 88888 + alongside the grass and sheeps. it reminded me a book called 8888888+ + + "tumulus as sema" 8888888+ + + + i took my time which was a collection 8888888+ + + and slowly climbed up of tumulus researches 8888888+ + + * .+ and the wind welcomed us. from a conferance in istanbul. 8888888+ + + + the wind is always there in Scotland. 88888 + + never leave you alone. 88888 + this time we got much closer. they made their way underneath my short : 888 + ++ + and gave my whole body a big hug. i walked around the tumulus multiple times + + that was too much. shaked me up. freezing. and different direction. somehow we could struggle a little bit with the overwind condition. my hands were shaking. i could make some recording honestly, at that moment, with the gopro that i borrowed from TSD-GSA i didn't know what i was doing anymore. just for a week. i just had a great time with the whole challenge. we realised that the tumulus has interior artifact that we could visit inside but it was closed through out the history Cairnpapple tumulus has been manipulated multiple times. it is too much manipulation! we wanted to see inside anyways but next time, when the wind is on leave. i kept walking, listening, thinking, freezing, un/digging!
